D'Angelo

From the demonic album titled "Voodoo"

Devil's Pie

f_ck the slice we want the pie
why ask why till we fry
watch us all stand in line
for a slice of the devil's pie
drugs and thugs women wine
three or four at a time
watch them stand all in line
for a slice of the devil's pie

who am I to justify
all the evil in our eye
when I myself feel the high
from all that I despise

word's from the album cover of voodoo

I am using the word "artist" loosely. I personally believe in art as it exist in the context of the phrase "thou art god". in this phrase, art is the word that connects the individual (thou) to their higher self (god) or to that which is universal.

we have come adorned in the apparel of the anointed. leather and feathers, jeans and t-shirts, linen and cashmere, and even polyester. we have come to seduce and serenade the night and the powers of darkness. we speak of darkness, not as ignorance, but as the unknown and the mysteries of the unseen.

D'Angelo is very sexual and explicit. He has a very X rated video where he is butt naked during his sexual serenade. His album is ironically titled "Voodoo" and his album cover has a picture of him in Haiti performing a Voodoo ceremony with natives. He is playing the conga drum while a woman, possessed by a demon, is mangling a chicken. The saddest part of all of this is D'Angelo's Christian following. Many Christian woman love D'Angelo and look past the Voodoo and the demonic undertones in his lyrics just to enjoy his appearance and his sultry sound. As you can tell by the lyrics and album cover writings, this guy is not playing. He is down with something that is not of God.
