Exodus to Egypt: "Black Jesus" Comedy Show will make the Nations of Gods and Earth proud

This new Adult Swim series will make the Nations of Gods and Earth proud to see that the “black man” is being betrayed as Jesus. The Turner-owned network has picked up a new half-hour live-action comedy series called Black Jesus from Aaron McGruder, creator of “The Boondocks” and also a known practicing 5 per center.  In the Truth Behind Hip hop Part 2 Exodus to Egypt G. Craige Lewis dismantled the 5 per centers (Nation of Gods and Earth) belief systems, and that the “black man” is god.

This comedic depiction of Jesus from an urban point of view is distasteful and sacrilegious. Episodes will feature some of the following titles:  Thug for the Lord, Water into Henney, In the Club, Break Bread and others.

New ‘Black Jesus’ Live Comedy Show to Premiere on Adult Swim TV Network

The Adult Swim television network has greenlighted a new live-action scripted comedy series called “Black Jesus” that will follow a modern–day Jesus character as he attempts to spread love and kindness throughout his Compton, Calif., neighborhood.

The new series was created by Aaron McGruder, the cartoonist best known for his work on “The Boondocks,” a comic strip and television series following the lives of two African American boys living with their grandfather. Accompanying McGruder on the new “Black Jesus” project will be actor Gerald “Slink” Johnson from “Grand Theft Auto V” playing the role of Jesus, as well as fellow actors Charlie Murphy, Corey Holcomb, Kali Hawk, Andra Fuller and John Witherspoon.

According to Deadline, the Turner-owned Adult Swim network has kept production of the new series relatively quiet. It was announced in May 2013 that McGruder would be creating a new live-action series, but the premise of the series had yet to be revealed. McGruder will produce his new series through his 5 Mutts Productions, and the live-action comedy will premiere later in 2014. Other producers behind the series include Mike Clattenberg, Norman Aladjem and John Bravakis.

Announcement of the series comes months after Fox News’ Megyn Kelly stirred controversy when she described both Jesus Christ and Santa Claus as being racially white. “For all you kids watching at home, Santa just is white,” Kelly said on her show, “The Kelly File,.” “Just because it makes you feel uncomfortable doesn’t mean it has to change, you know?”

“I mean, Jesus was a white man too. He was a historical figure, that’s a verifiable fact, as is Santa – I just want the kids watching to know that.”

Kelly’s comments garnered a widespread rash of criticism from those who argued the Fox News host was being racist when she said both Jesus and Santa were white. Kelly then issued a response on her evening talk show, saying she was trying to inject a bit of humor into the holiday season, but such attempts were evidently “lost on the humorless.”

“Humor is what we try to bring to this show, but that’s lost on the humorless,” Kelly said on “The Kelly File” in December 2013. “This would be funny if it were not so telling about our society, in particular, the knee-jerk instinct by so many to race-bait and to assume the worst in people, especially people employed by the very powerful Fox News Channel.”

Black Jesus cast member talks about the production

As the world now knows, The Boondocks will be returning for a fourth season, but I will not be returning with it. I’d like to extend my gratitude to Sony and Adult Swim for three great seasons. I created The Boondocks two decades ago in college, did the daily comic for six years, and was showrunner on the animated series for the first three seasons. The Boondocks pretty much represents my life’s work to this point. Huey, Riley, and Granddad are not just property to me. They are my fictional blood relatives. Nothing is more painful than to leave them behind.

To quote a great white man, “Hollywood is a business”. And to quote another great white man, “Don’t hold grudges”.  What has never been lost on me is the enormous responsibility that came with The Boondocks – particularly the television show and it’s relatively young audience. It was important to offend, but equally important to offend for the right reasons. For three seasons I personally navigated this show through the minefields of controversy. It was not perfect. And it definitely was not quick. But it was always done with a keen sense of duty, history, culture, and love. Anything less would have been simply unacceptable. As for me, I’m finally putting a life of controversy and troublemaking behind me with my upcoming Adult Swim show, BLACK JESUS. – Aaron McGruder

    1. I agree because the difference is they fight for there god they serve most Christian sit on the sideline and laugh but then say I don’t agree with it. (I don’t speak for all Christian but just for some I met.) Christian need to stand up stop being like the world. That includes ME also I have to see theses type of tv program be stop I haven’t petition people to sign up to stop this type of stuff cause it happening daily I don’t watch the show but reading the article cause me to want to write the network. the church Hasn’t stood it ground. And im basically checking myself cause im a part of the body.

  1. They have lost their minds!!! How disrespectful. I am African but Black America has it really come to this????Completely their minds have been seared if they dont repent they will see he is a God of mercy but also of justice. Time to boycott this network my brothers and sisters and most of whats on TV.

  2. Jesus being black no problem. Jesus being a comedy-it makes me nervous. If Hollywood once again is persecuting Christians by mocking the real Son of God and Christians it shows their disgusting immoral hatred and intolerance for Christianity. You do it and your show will die into the halls of stupidity like it deserves.

  3. These brothers is in some serious trouble. Why they wanna go there? We know why. Jesus still to this very day being persecuted…..The sad part is that people defend this foolishness and say that, oh, it’s artistic expression. Well I say, God will definitely express himself very soon upon this earth and throughout the universe.

  4. These attacks on our faith and our God shows that these are the last days, the days of Noah, and days of Lot. If these people don’t repent and accept Christ, they will eternally pay for this blasphemy.
