Has Prominent Black Detroit Pastor, Bishop Charles Ellis III, Sold Out to Secular and Homosexual Agenda?

Unknown-1DETROIT, Nov. 12, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ — The Apostle Paul strongly criticized some church leaders of his time whose lives caused unbelievers to look upon the church as having no credibility and, ultimately, rejected God because some church leaders who supposedly represented God were no more morally sound than the average unbeliever.

Paul was clearly suggesting that lifestyle evangelism is key to winning souls and those church leaders whose lifestyle did not reflect godliness were a detriment to the furtherance of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

A strong case can be made that Bishop Charles Ellis III, of Greater Grace Temple in Detroit and Presiding Bishop of the Pentacostal Assemblies of the World (PAW) has indeed caused the name of God to be blasphemed or cursed among unbelievers and, thus, should give sincere consideration to stepping down to pursue his secular goals which have become pre-eminent to preaching the gospel to Bishop Ellis.

For the past several years, Bishop Ellis has come under scrutiny for a questionable friendship with a practicing homosexual. In 2012, “Gay Christian Movement Watch” (GCM) did an editorial about Ellis which inquired as to whether he was in a gay church relationship.

They noted how Ellis’ picture and personal Facebook page was listed as a supporter of a homosexual church. Ellis refused to directly respond to GCM when confronted about this association.

Sadly, Ellis continues to open himself up for scrutiny, in light of the fact he currently travels with an alleged homosexual by the name of Rodney Howell, who does his hair and designs Ellis’ clothing.

It, therefore, comes as no surprise that, when hundreds of Black Detroit Pastors stood up for Biblical marriage this year and denounced the homosexual agenda to redefine marriage, Ellis- one of Detroit’s most prominent pastors- was curiously silent and declined to stand with those who were defending the gospel.

To add insult to injury, Bishop Ellis is now slated to star in a new Oxygen TV program “Preachers of Detroit”, which is a spin-off of the “Preachers of L.A.” television show,  that came under harsh criticism from Black Pastors across the nation.

In a BET.COM interview Rev. James C. Perkins, pastor of Greater Baptist Church in Detroit and V.P. of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, said that the “Preachers of L.A. would cause people to believe that clergy are “primarily interested in celebrity.” Perkins concluded “I don’t think the show represents the best of the Black Church tradition.”

Bishop T.D. Jakes went on record as identifying the “Preachers of L.A” as “junk” to his congregation.

Suffice to say Rev. Perkins and Bishop Jakes would equally criticize the notion of a “Preachers of Detroit” reality show, which will have the same damaging impact on the ability of legitimate pastors to win souls to Jesus Christ.

The moral of the story is that, in light of Ellis’ refusal to denounce any association with a homosexual church, an alleged homosexual hairdresser and clothing designer, his history of being identified as an empathizer with the homosexual agenda, along with his current commitment to turn the house of God into a sideshow for entertainment purposes, it is time for Bishop Charles Ellis to step down as a pastor and stop causing unbelievers to curse the name of Jesus Christ.

And Another one bites the dust. It’s all about the Benjamin’s ok. The book of Romans 1st chapter warns of what will happen to those who have given their selves over to their vile and lustful passions, but also those who approve. They will not go unpunished.

The word says that the Lord adds to the Church those who are being saved. Acts 2:47 and that we are an exclusive people, picked and chosen by God to proclaim His praises. 1 Peter 2:9 Where the idea that we were more than helpers in His plan of salvation is unfounded and may have quite a bit to do with the doctrine of inclusion, that which is carnally based.
I do not know the Bishop in question, but sense he may feel that it is his membership, instead of his stewardship, and thinks he is above carnality. I remember Fred Price’s policies on gays and that was they were not permitted to be in any leadership roles including assistant , choir director, usher and the like. The members of his church owe it to him to call him in check, being a dual relationship. I found it odd in Eddie Long’s fiasco, that not 1 spirit filled man or woman out of 30,000 in his church called him out.

Hair dresser? , clothing designer? , this seems effeminate even if he isn’t. It’s hard to give-up the lifestyle and adoration once you get a taste, so I doubt he will sit down. His congregation should bear some responsibility for this mess also. You can’t follow anyone blindly, his message should mesh with the WORD. If not, flee or fight to have him removed. I will give him props for saving the church a little money though. He could have hire two people instead of one for the hair dresser and designer jobs. Men, stay out of the mirror please!

I’m not surprised at this. So many preachers are falling away and going straight to a sinners hell.why would they compromise? For fame, celebrity status, and overall MONEY!God please wake up the church! God bless exminstries!

In Judges 20th chapter you see that those who defend homosexuality will suffer the same fate, I am Apostolic to the bone been down in Jesus name. What he is doing or NOT doing is a disgrace and embarrassment to the founder of P. A. W., Bishop G. T. Haywood. Do what Jeremiah 6:16, days. Peace, Chief ApostleW. E. Pitters

I am grateful to GOD for pulling me out of the P.A.W. I was behind the scenes a lot at the national convention and there is a lot of hate and corruption going on amongst the leaders. Chuckie, Noel, Detrick, Tonex and the rest of you slipping and sliding “bishops” and “leaders” need to REPENT! REPENT! REPENT!!!!!

  7. Freeworld

I agree with you Jack. Some of the responsibility does fall on the congregation. Its truly sad how a leader could be found fornicating in the pulpit and the church will turn a blind eye. As a matter of fact, majority of the problem lies with the congregation. If more churches wouldn’t tolerate this nonsense and hold a standard of conduct, more leaders would get the message. But they all know that nothing will be done after being exposed. Simply lay low for a while and it’ll blow over. The reason members don’t address fallen leaders is because many want their position, power, lifestyle, to be them (or be with them). After being appalled of how the “Preachers of L.A.” are pimping God’s people, He dropped in my spirit that the people are the ones that placed them in position and paid for their houses, cars, and lifestyle. Why? Because the people want their houses, cars and lifestyle, not the true Gospel. They’re sowing in their lives with the hope of gaining their lives. Truly read what Paul says about the matter:

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

I am in 100% percent agreement with the stepping down of Bishop Ellis. The Homosexual agenda is an agenda that is purposely set up to attempt to poison the mind of people, and cause them to accept an unnatural act as normal. The word of the Lord is totally clear concerning this unclean spirit. Many leaders will be silent, simply because they are cowards and have no real relationship with YHWH.

This is what happens when Eli’s children take over. These churches need to stop being hand me down churches and just think we spoke the night before Supt. Earl Carter in COGIC COnvocation

  10. JAM

I’ve never felt Ellis was sincere and questioned his integrity. Everybody wants to be a “star” even though so called “stars” continue to fall. He looks like an old Gay and false preacher in the style of Father John. So sad…I think many if them are of a reprobate mind.

  11. 1servant

This is the judgement of the Most High. The people want the world so they get compromising backsliding fame seeking pastors who strutt about like peacocks in the pulpit. True saints of of God Almighty get out of those churches before you become infected with carnality. Lord Help Us!

  12. Julie McLean

Jesus is coming back. His reward is with him. He that is righteous, shall be righteous still. He that is filthy, let him be filthy still. He that is holy, let him be holy still. These leaders are going to answer to God for their wrong. I heard of these prophecies many years ago, now they are coming to pass. Church wake up! It is Holiness or Hell! Holiness without Compromise.

I went to greater grace temple a hand full of times(30) . what I didn’t like was (1) he drives a Bentley (a $400,000.00 car) and he also told the people in the audience that if collections and tithes didn’t pick up than he was gonna go around the room to each and every woman and tell her to dig deep down into her bank of brazeere for money because they only cheating themselves, u can’t fool the lord he says. I agree but bak of brazeere. Wow.He also Bragg’s about his pricey watch he was given. And he has armed guards on stage with him.!!!Man shall fear no evil if ye walk in the lord the bible says, and he says he owns a gun for home defense. This bishop is a mess in my opinion and needs a serious review. They have a store inside the church full of items they push on you also.

The Preachers of Detroit huh? I am originally from Indiana with family in Detroit. TAs a child, those holidays and family gatherings to Detroit were always a treat. We really thought we were going some where because it used to be so nice. I had the opportunity to go back there in Oct. for Elder Craig’s TTBHH#9 recording and was DISGUSTED! I am aware of the former mayor’s embarrassing actions in his position and lack of regard for the people/city of Detroit. But to see the destruction and deterioration of the city was heart wrenching. I said that to say this: While he, and other Detroit pastors are about to be on tv styling and profiling…they ought to be ashamed, embarrassed, and most of all CONVICTED (that is if they TRULY served the One & Only, True & Living God). CONVICTED for bragging about all they have and yet allow THEIR city to look as such with the residents suffering (no employment, loss of homes, (every other one abandoned, etc.) the way they are. I am so done with these poor excuses of “Pastors”, that unfortunately, nothing they do surprises me anymore. How Sad!!!

  15. tala

I won’t even comment on where this “bishop” stands as far as the Kingdom is concerned. I believe the true saints know exactly what this man represents. So my question is, what straight man allows a gay man to groom and dress him?HUH, WHERE THEY DO THAT AT?!!!!!!

  16. nisha

So disappointed but I am not surprised. This is why I left denominational churches because all the devil has to do is get the leader that heads everything. This is sad because I was brought up under a PAW church and my heart goes out to my family and friends that sit under this mess.

  17. Mable

Yesterday I read about Bishop Charles Blake, the presiding Bishop over the Church of God in Christ condoning equal rights for homosexuals, now Ellis. Hold on to your hat’s folks…we have’nt seen the last of this great falling away!! Hold fast to Gods unchanging Word.

  18. Shawnae

This what happens when you sway away from the name of Jesus… You can’t change the foundation… It will rock and eventually crash… God bless Bishop Ellis and his family! I pray for change!

  19. charnee

Please tell me the true christians commenting believe in equal rights for gays? The only thing should not be equal is marriage but guess what folks God isnt honoring their marriage no way! They just passed a bill that if u don’t like gays and u are a nurse and they get into an accident u dont have to care for them due to your religious beliefs! What Jesus teaching is that? He said he came for the sick and not the saved. If we dont show homesexuals healthly love how will they see Christ in us? Believe read and study your Word to show yourself approved. Thanks and Love to you brothers and sisters in Christ and Merry Christmas!

    1. walk23

Gays already have equal rights. They want special rights and to legalize something that is forbidden by God. They are asking this country’s legal system to set aside the values and spirit this country was founded upon. One can look at the Preamble to the Constitution and The Declaration of Independence to see the spirit behind this county’s founding or cornerstone. I have not seen anywhere nor heard of people not treating injured people because of their religious beliefs, nor believe any Christian would whether any bill was passed, doubtful. The best love to show homosexuals is to present the Truth of God’s word concerning their lifestyle choice and offer them the Power of His love to transform them. Jesus is still in the delivering business. It is the duty of Christians to present the uncensored, uncompromised Gospel whether that means hurt feelings. Christians should not compromise the word to coddle the homosexual community or their desire to be accepted into the Body of Christ.

    2. Sharron D. Hall

Charnee? I hope I spelled that right. What does your comment have to do with Chuckie Ellis and him supporting the homosexual agenda? We are not talking about equal rights here. We are talking about a supposed man of God who is doing more than “loving” the gay community, but accepting them and allowing them to do whatever they want to. You can not allow anyone with UNREPENTED SIN gay or not just do whatever they want to in the church and still live in sin. If that’s the case I need to go get me a fine single man (and YES I’m a woman) and get me some, because you are saying just love me, but don’t address my sin. Am I understanding you correctly?
