Kanye West “I’m a disciple of Christ” You will know them by their fruit
By Tetaun Moffett | Ex Ministries
In the world we live everybody is a professing “Christian” and those that are deceived will live and die assuming that they are a follower of Christ. But… many will say – (Matt 7:21-23 false disciples). Lately there has been countless celebrities, athletes and entertainers who have somehow come out of the closet – “I’ am a Christian!” In this post we have featured a snippet of the Kris Jenner’s Show and during the program Jenner interviews Kanye West. In this clip he’s asked about his “what would Jesus do” bracelet, then he loosely states, “I’m a uh.., I’m a Christian, and I wanted to.., it’s always to let people, uh.. that’s.. that’s..uh.. what’s on my mind.”
Now the worldly carnal religious folks will suggest that I’m writing to judge West or I’m sitting at the seat of a Pharisee. Some will even respond by saying, Don’t judge him, “Because what you don’t know is when he get home and get behind closed doors, he hit the floor and what you can’t see is him on his knees and if you ask him, he’ll tell ya… Its the God in me.” -Mary Mary
Looking back at that expression, those who claim to be followers of Christ, who have made the lifestyle of a Christian so appealing to the world, no self-denial, no sacrifice, no repentance, – just come as you are and do nothing. And this is why “He’s not done with them yet”. “If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.” (1 John 1:16)
Many have taken their cue from selfish ambitious pop preachers and various “
Church Celebrities” . The lost (the world) has seen the hypocrisy, they’ve seen the Churches witness. As a matter of fact, they know that, the Church Celebrity wants what they have, so why should the celebrity give up what they have obtain (fame, money, notoriety) to truly follow Christ. “That Church” seeks to be famous at the expense of religion, so all a celebrity has to do is say, “I’m a Christian” and everything’s acceptable, including their lifestyle. Now that’s unity and love. (pun intended)
“..You will not control the threesome just roll the weed up until I get me some. We formed a new religion, no sins as long as there’s permission and deception is the only felony.” – Kanye West ( No Church in the Wild)
Wherein your religious TV Shows, christian entertainment magazines and bloggers parade these entertainers around and make them church celebrities just because they said, “I’am a christian”.
Well in light of scripture a follower of Christ will have their minds and hearts set to love God the Father and Jesus Christ with all their hearts and all their minds and all their strength (Mark 12:28-30). They will love what God loves and hate what he hates. They will be committed to live by every word of God (Luke 4:4; Deut 8:3). In Romans chapter 6 Paul describes the new life of a disciple of Christ, “Therefore, we were buried with Him through the baptism into the death; so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, in the same way, we also should walk in newness of life.” A true disciple is no longer conformed to the pattern of this world, but they have been transformed by the renewing of their mind.(Romans 12:2) They are new creators or are no longer of this world. – under new government, Jesus is Lord of their life.
A true disciple has denied himself (Matt 16:24) As a matter of fact, they are no longer their own, they’ve been brought with a price. Adopted into the Kingdom of God, one who lives righteously under the influence of the Holy Spirit. They are not led by the god of this world but by the Spirit of God, which makes them children of God.
How do you know who’s a true disciple of Christ? By the fruit that they bear. No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. (Matt. 7:20, Luke 6:43). Therefore those who “come out” like a West and others who proclaim being a Christian and bear no fruit are deceiving themselves. They are not subject to the law (Matt 12:33-35), they can’t please God. These individuals are carnal, they walk after the flesh, live under the law of sin and death and are enmity (enemy) of God. Romans 8:9 says, “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”
So according to West’s lifestyle, his music and what he represents, non of it reflects the life style or values of a Christian/disciple of Christ. Kanye West is lost and spiritually dead. This video is contrived and if you have any discernment you can see that this is a failed attempt to repair his public image. So this is not an opportunity for us to promote him, pray that he becomes a Christian Hiphopper and rap for Jesus. Shame on any organization that tries to promote him in this manner.
Just like many of us, West needs a true encounter with the Savior not a pseudo T.D. Jakes version. You can’t come to Christ and still be who you were in this world. You can’t promote Christ, do his will, be his disciple and love yourself, and the god of this world. Even the rich young ruler testified that. – Famous, rich and still lost. T.D. Jakes and many others have embraced two Kingdoms, two Gods and continue to lead many back into bondage.
Jesus even warned us, “If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” So on fruit alone, Kanye West is not a disciple of Christ. He is of the world. He has religion but has not been redeemed by the blood of the lamb. How should we know (1John 4:1).
On Christianity and Ralph Lauren:
“I’m Christian in the same way that people have issues with certain elements of Christianity. It’s like if you go into a Ralph Lauren store, maybe that buyer didn’t do the exact buy that you want, but you still really like that brand.”
Song “I Am A God”
West was informed that he’d be invited to a widely anticipated runway show only on the condition that he agree not to attend any other shows. “So the next day I went to the studio with Daft Punk, and I wrote ‘I Am a God,’?” West says. “Cause it’s like, Yo! Nobody can tell me where I can and can’t go. Man, I’m the No. 1 living and breathing rock star. I am Axl Rose; I am Jim Morrison; I am Jimi Hendrix.” West is not smiling as he says this, and his voice is getting louder with each sentence. “You can’t say that you love music and then say that Kanye West can’t come to your show! To even think they could tell me where I could and couldn’t go is just ludicrous. It’s blasphemous—to rock ’n’ roll, and to music.”
On why he chose the title “I Am A God”:
“I made that song because I am a god,” he says finally. He laughs for a second, then stops. “I don’t think there’s much more explanation. I’m not going to sit here and defend s**t. That s**t is rock ’n’ roll, man. That s**t is rap music. I am a god. Now what?”
Saints we should be sadden by what we’re seeing. This man is deceived and those religious media organizations who seek to gain from this have no discernment, and could careless about his soul. We have to tell the world the truth. The first sign of a disciple is self denial. You cannot be in Christ and everything about you is anti-christ.
“Cause my Jesus likes sex..my Jesus didn’t die a virgin” – Kanye West
We must continue to intercede for the lost. God’s desire is draw men back to him, not unto themselves. But we can’t be effective in this world if we don’t live out this gospel. The same gospel that saved and delivered you from the law of sin and death can deliver an entertainer. But what we continue to witness are counterfeit conversions.
While some will say but… we are all sinners saved by grace, we are just like him. No, (we once were sinners) but we’ve been saved by Grace. And that same Grace empowers us to do what Truth demands of us. To walk as he walked.” Its not a cover-up for sin and hypocrisy .” (Romans 6:1-2)
To many of us are trying to emulate the world, and the world is emulating the church. This cannot be so, there must be a distinction made between two kingdoms. You either going to love one and hate the other. ( Matt. 6:24; 1 John 2:15-17).
It’s time to cry out for souls. This world needs a Savior. Redemption is not in music, religious entertainment or how relevant you can be to reach them. Its in the never changing Gospel of Jesus Christ. Its by his Spirit that men will be drawn to the cross. As we pray for Kanye West and others, get out and pray for your mailman whom you see everyday. Pray for the Walmart clerk and your neighbors. This same gospel is for the common man as well as the fallen stars. Our desire should be Gods desire, that all men repent and receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
