Mozilla CEO Resigns Amid Criticism, Boycott Over Donation Supporting Biblical Marriage

Brandon-Eich-Credit-darcy-Padilla-300x300MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – The new CEO of Mozilla has resigned from his post after an online dating company and other homosexual advocates threatened to boycott the company over a past donation in support of Biblical marriage.

Brandon Eich, co-founder of Mozilla and inventor of JavaScript, stepped down just two weeks after being promoted from his previous position as chief technology officer. Eich’s departure centered around backlash regarding a $1,000 donation to California’s Proposition 8 efforts in 2008. While the matter became public knowledge in 2012, homosexual advocates resurfaced the complaint last month after becoming aware of Eich’s promotion.

Eich responded by creating a blog post aimed at employees that “express[ed] … sorrow at having caused pain.” He vowed to work with “LGBT communities and allies, to listen and learn what does and doesn’t make Mozilla supportive and welcoming,” and reiterated the company’s “anti-discrimination policies.”

However, last week, the online dating site OkCupid joined those who expressed opposition to Eich’s appointment and called for a boycott of the Firefox browser, created by Mozilla.

“Mozilla’s new CEO, Brendan Eich, is an opponent of equal rights for gay couples,” it posted in a message to Firefox users. “We would therefore prefer that our users not use Mozilla software to access OkCupid.”

While he originally refused to resign under continued pressure from opponents, Eich announced on Thursday that he was stepping down from his post.

“I have decided to resign as CEO effective today, and leave Mozilla,” he said in a statement released by the company. “Our mission is bigger than any one of us, and under the present circumstances, I cannot be an effective leader. I will be taking time before I decide what to do next.”

Executive Chairwoman Mitchell Baker also released a statement where she inferred that the company disagreed with Eich’s position on marriage, and that officials should have addressed homosexual activists sooner.

“We know why people are hurt and angry, and they are right: it’s because we haven’t stayed true to ourselves,” she stated. “We didn’t act like you’d expect Mozilla to act. We didn’t move fast enough to engage with people once the controversy started. We’re sorry. We must do better.”

“Mozilla believes both in equality and freedom of speech. Equality is necessary for meaningful speech. And you need free speech to fight for equality,” she continued. “Figuring out how to stand for both at the same time can be hard.”

However, some are now expressing dismay over how Eich was treated, stating that those who speak of tolerance are actually the most intolerant.

“‘Tolerant’ does not mean ‘I am obliged to agree with you,’” one commenter wrote. “Gay activists demanding tolerance expect advocacy as proof of tolerance. This is the kind of societal browbeating that encourages the kind of zealotry we witnessed with this man. ‘Live and let live’ has been replaced by ‘I’ll destroy you if you don’t toe my intellectual line.’”

“Boycotting an entire company and threatening the livelihood of all of its employees because [you] disagree with a personal donation made by its CEO before he was ever hired is not tolerance,” another stated. “America are supposed to defend our right to disagree, not strive to bankrupt an entire group simply because of one individuals opinion. It is an attitude of zero tolerance from the same people hypocritically accusing this CEO of intolerance.”

How can a big company be put under presure by a community of less then 5% of the population?
Would it have the same effect when believers would start boycotting companies and other institutions for supporting abortion or other kinds of evil?

These companies are yielding to evil and pushing this country into darkness America is no longer a free nation, the homosexual agenda is the core of satan forcing his way of thinking on others through sexual immorality.
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, (I Corinthians 6:9 NKJV)

The LGBT community has gained so much power in its atheistic core and is bent on persecuting anyone who has or supports Biblical principles. Christianity has become the target and unless its leaders and members begin to stand up and voice complaints the persecutions will become more radical. Its important that the Church exercise its freedoms and defend the faith in all arenas. While it may look like its a gay movement, the core of it has become anti Christ.

He shouldn’t have stepped down. This guy is the lukewarm believer that Jesus discussed in Revelation 3…stand up for something, anything…but make sure that you stand! Jesus never backed down from confrontation even though the rulers of the day had everyone under their thumb for fear of being excommunicated from the synagogue. It’s a shame that no one wants to speak the truth for The Lord anymore.

WHY ARE PEOPLE SO DETERMINE TO UNDERMIND WHAT JESUS HAS ESTABLISHED. IF HE DOES NOT LIKE MEN SLEEPING WITH MEN AND WOMEN SLEEPING WITH WOMEN. THEN WHY TRY TO FORCE THAT NASTY LIFE STYLE ON THE WORLD. HE HATES IT FOR A REASON. AND THAT REASON HAS NOT CHANGED. DEAL WITH IT.

The whole gay rights issue boils down to ideology. Atheism vs God. The gay community can cite tolerance or any other term they so choose, but the bottom line is they are atheistic and anti Christ and have grown emboldened in their hatred toward God and His principles. Not one wants to adhere to Biblical ways of living. Not one is repentant. They cite love or this or that about Jesus and quote about not judging, etc. but take not one thought that God has already judged this and called it an abomination or grave sin and declared that homosexuals will not inherit His Kingdom, period. It has become evident that the gay agenda has chosen their god and rejected the living God. The spirit in the LGBT is atheism. All the narratives, the changing of word meanings, equal rights or civil rights and other fabrications are deceptions that mask the spirt of anti Christ. This anti Christ spirit has lobbied our Court System to legalize the sin of these times, homosexuality. No matter how they cloak it, the LGBT is open rebellion against the God of John 3:16 and rejection of the Lamb sacrificed. Emboldened by the ability to buy off a President, this spirit has become so intertwined with the gay community and threatens morality and decency. As more and more people focus not on the individual gay or lesbian and see the spirit that has engrained itself in them, the spirit of the evil one becomes crystal clear. The LGBT has become another voice of satanism and atheism and is taking its members to Hell

Wow! I guess the lgbt has redefined tolerance and “freedom of speech” well why not everything else is being redefined(smh). Seek first the Kingdom saints because the lgbt is just waiting to take everything you have if you don’t “submitt”

This anti-Christ spirit has been with the homosexual from the beginning, now it has gained political power and given a people who make up less than 5% of the population the momentum and supernatural ability to exercise authority as if they’re a larger part of society than they really are. They masked their abominable life style as an immutable component of their existence as if it were skin color, gender or nationality; often comparing their plight with that of the civil rights movement. There is no science that supports these immutable claims, therefore effectively taking away the bases for their arguments and protest. So what’s actually happening is that the lgbt movement is trying to force the rest of the world to accept their depravity and anyone who disagrees with such destructive behavior is considered a bully or intolerant. Any word spoken against said life style choice is considered hate speech. Anyone or anything that is actively against the lgbt movement is considered an act of intolerance. Now the government is passing ungodly laws under the guise of “equality for all” to force the rest of into silence, this is the path of ungodly men. . . of an ungodly society and Mozilla is just following suite.

Praise the Lord Saints, God is with us no matter what. He did tell us that there was, is & will be many anti Christ in our midst. We, the body of Christ should not be surprised by their actions because we have seen that these things were going to take place. When i read the article it was a matter of we have to tolerate or should i say accept them but they will not accept us. Its a one sided/lop sided situation. The church is at a point in battle of a stand off, who will surrender first! But the good news has come and will not change even if some do, the battle has been won…we have to stand and see the salvation of the Lord! As long as believers have a made up mind to be a friend of God and not his enemy, preserve in our faith, the Spirit of the Lord will continue to expose (yes that is what is happening) the darkness that is taking the world not the church by storm. Job loss amongst many other hard times are coming (rfid chip) & so on. The enemy is fighting hard to get believers and unbelievers to doubt that God exist and that he loves pple and forgives sin. And we know why, because in his word he told us, the light has come & and those that sit in darkness cannot comprehend it.”Now unto Him who is able to keep us from falling, and to present us faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy. To the only wise God and Savor, be glory, majesty, dominion and power, both now and for ever. Amen” Jude 1:24-25.
