Detroit pastor, father killed after asking neighbors to quiet down

Detroit-pastor-killed-jpgYoung Tatiana Kirby cried until she couldn’t cry anymore last Monday night after an angry man attending a party next door pumped several bullets into the body of her father, Pastor Tim Kirby, 46, after he asked them to turn down the music.

“It was devastating. I cried for a minute, and then it was like I couldn’t cry no more,” said his daughter, Tatiana Kirby. “He was a good father. He was always a caring person. Every Sunday we were always in church. He always made sure we had clothes, good clothes on our backs, food on the table.”

“He was a good father. He was always a caring person. Every Sunday we were always in church. He always made sure we had clothes, good clothes on our backs, food on the table,” she said.

According to local police, Kirby’s neighbors were hosting a big party complete with loud music and screaming when he left his apartment to ask them to tone down the noise.

Upset by the pastor’s request, a group of men turned the encounter into a full blown confrontation and began shouting at him. One of them got so incensed during the dispute that he shot the man of God three times. His lifeless body was left to stain the cement outside his apartment building while his shocked family and friends descended into mourning.

  1. No fear of God, no respect for the preacher, to be inconsiderate of your neighbors, Godless. God help us.

  2. My God! there is a war going on we better arm ourselves for spiritual warfare, noone is safe from the onslaught of the enemy. Babies are not safe, children are not safe, women are not safe old people are not safe and even pastors are not safe in this world. How much longer will this world accept bloodshed before the wrath of God come?

  3. My prayers to this family. This is an outrage!

I’m waiting for Rev Al Sharpton & Rev Jesse Jackson’s outrage.

  4. This is very sad, might the Lord be with this family. We are living in a day and age when you have to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit as many are rude and selfish.

  5. This is the result of today’s foundation in the “Black American” culture… Violent Hip Hop Music. The core issue must be eliminated before any symptoms can begin to dissipate. My condolences to the family.

  6. President Obama needs to speak about this tragedy. Why is this not on CNN? MSNBC? Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, where are you? Black people all over America where are you now. May we should all be Pastor Tim Kirby. Are you Tim Kirby?

  7. Lord, this is what you have to be ready for when you are a believer. You never know when standing for righteousness will cost you your life. My condolences to the family, and his death is a warning to be completely sure you are ready to meet the Lord at all times. I am sure the pastor wasn’t expecting to die at that moment, but my hope is that he and others were ready to leave this earth without sin.

I agree with RSimms. I think Rev. Sharpton and Rev. Jackson are going to sit this one out though. This cause is not “glamorous” enough for them though. By standing up for this, they’d have to acknowledge a whole host of failed policies (i.e. gun restriction laws in places like Chicago and NYC, the influences of music and negative images in media).

  8. Stories like this make slavery and abortion justifiable in the black community. I get so angry when I hear stories like this because it’s so stupid. If we’re going to kill our own for idiocy like this what was the point of us being freed or even having a civil rights movement? We were stronger during the Reconstruction Era and before the Civil Rights Movement than now. I hate when we give those who hate us and think we’re animals a logical reason to exterminate us through abortion. The billionaire class is already trying to exterminate us we don’t need to help them.

  9. Praying for this family, and especially his church because they are left without a shephard. This generation is so heartless and cold its ridiculous, have mercy Lord over us and allow you blood to forever cover us.

  10. I have went to my neighbors on many occasions and I would pray before I go because I would already be a little angry because of the loud music or traffic. You must be of a humble spirit when dealing with sinners, because might be getting high and drinking you must talk kindly if possible and try not to argue. I don’t know if he went snappin because sometimes it may be hard to stay in the spirit. Sometimes I just suffered it through. I have like prayed for God to remove my enemies and he have done it!!! We must remember that the battle is not ours it is the Lord!!!

  11. OK so now where’s Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, other politicians, where’s the marches and protest where’s CNN, FOX News??? (crickett…crickett…). This is a serious problem! More serious than any other story that was believed to be more significant. The man (Pastor) only asked that the music be turned down and then you gun him down??!! Washington DC, we have a serious problem with our priorities…

  12. This is why I am all for the death penalty. That music stirred those demons up in people. 4 children without a father in detroit.smh .

After the trial they need to put the person down who did this. I wonder how many suits will be worn by people in honor of this man like they wore hoodies for Treyvon? Not one

  13. I know this is just a story to most of you but Elder Kirby was our friend, our associate, our fellow clergyman who would do anything for anybody. We are still dealing with the tragedy of his sudden loss and hope his killer is found, tried and convicted. Four children are now without a father, a congregation is without their pastor and a mother no longer has her son.

  14. I am so very sorry this has happened to your father, Pastor Tim Kirby, Tatiana (and the rest of the family). PRAYING for you and your family in this terrible, senseless tragedy! 🙁

  15. Murder is growing by leaps and bounds, and satan is getting worse because he knows his time is winding up, condolences to his family on such a wicked act. Have mercy Lord Jesus.

  16. I coached this mans so here in Cleveland. Great young man football player and great student. This is another one of those ” I should have Just stayed in the house and called the police. The man Just wanted a little rest and quiet. no matter what was said in this altercation. NOBODY should have died. My heart is heavy as I just got off of the phone with His ex wife.and she has to bring this boy to manhood alone. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP PEOPLE.
