Florida Woman Credits Prayer, Scripture for Saving Her and 7-Year-Old Son from Rapist’s Rampage

By Heather Clark | christiannews.net

TAMPA – A Florida woman is thanking God for saving her life after a rapist on a rampage was thwarted in his attempts to harm her when she began ministering to him through prayer and the Scriptures.

Charles “Chris” Bates had just raped four women on Thursday night when he ran into the bold Christian woman. He had happened upon a group of University of South Florida students watching a football game at a Tampa apartment building when he bound the men and sexually assaulted the women.

Bates then continued across the city, where he found a woman at another apartment complex sitting on her porch. According to reports, Bates then forced the woman inside, and ordered her to undress and kiss him. Her 7-year-old son was sleeping in the next room.

However, just as he was about to rape the woman, whose identity has not been released, she asked Bates if he believed in God.

“I went on autopilot and did what I had to do and said what I had to [say] to survive,” she told Florida’s Action News.

The woman told police that Bates’ demeanor then changed, and the incident turned into approximately 30 minutes of prayer and Biblical ministry.

“We read the Bible together,” she explained. “I offered to give it to him. He wouldn’t take it, because he said he wouldn’t live through the night.” The woman then located John 3:16 in her Bible and ripped out the passage, handing it to Bates, whom she stated expressed remorse for his actions.

Thank you Lord for saving this woman. Heal the victims completely and cause the rapist to repent and be saved. IN Jesus Name Amen.
Demons are trying to assert themselves all over the place like never before (since Ive been alive)

I personally know of two women who faced rapists and they prayed; one boldly prayed in the Spirit who rebuked the evil spirit influencing the man to rape her. Both men fled after the women started praying. But knowing these two women they naturally pray first before they do anything. So it was like natural for them to pray in their situations. Amen! To God be the glory; great things he has done!

This story is more proof that there is power in the Word of God. She shined light in the midst of darkness by ministering the Word to this man. It is obvious that he was being tormented by many demons.

You can always stop Demons with God’s Word. Very inspiring story. I’m confused how he bound the men. Like multiple men, they must’ve been under the influence or something, who knows. but its sad for those 4 women who got raped. But glad got touched his heart and helped the one who called out to him.

And why did the police kill him??? I’m sorry, but some of these officers in the USA are too trigger-happy. I pray that this young man found peace with God, just like the thief on the cross.

Benissoit L’Eternel! (means “Blessed be the Name of the Lord” in French) Our God is an awesome God! Hallelujah! This IS the TRUE power of the Holy Spirit. Give God all the glory. I personally spoke with someone kidnapped in Haiti for ransom from a group of guys for about 2 weeks. She said that it was the constant prayers throughout those days in captivity and calling out the name of Jesus that kept her would-be rapist from attacking her right on the act. Immediately, he came back to his right mind, pleaded for forgiveness and left her alone. Please forward this powerful testimony to as many people you may know to tell them that there is still power in the name of Jesus. Thank you ExMinistires for sharing this story with the world.

The sad part of this story and the comments is the lack of compassion or remorse for the four women that where actually raped.Nobody even ask the glaring question that need to be answered. We know that rapist are gonna rape, but can some of you people giving glory to God care to answer the question; “where was God during the rape of those four women

God is so good! It’s uplifting and encouraging to read a story like this! It proves that there is special protection for God’s children. I truly believe with all my heart that though we do have to endure hardships as believers, that there are circumstances in which we are protected by God. I pray Psalm 91 constantly over my life and over my family. I know from experience, that God has saved me from accidents and from the snares of vile and evil men.

As for the other women who were raped. My sympathy goes out for them. God’s grace is sufficient.

To the ones trying to bring GODS name down #1 YOU CANT #2 GOD was there but he used THIS wo
men to stop him from doing further harm.its funny how people ask WHERE WAS GOD WHEN THE OTHER FOUR INCIDENTS OCCURED..JUST BE GLAD HE USED HER TO STOP HIM. WHERE WERE YOU WHEN GOD CALLED YOU TO REPENT AND BE SAVED?WHY DIDNT YOU ANSWER? WHY DIDNT YOU COME? YOU WANT TO SERVE SATAN BUT WHEN YOUR MASTER (WHICH IS SATAN) SENDS HAVOC TO YOUR HOUSE NOW ITS GOD’S FAULT?? NO ITS YOURS FOR BEING A STIFF NECKED PEOPLE. I FEEL BAD FOR THE VICTIMS I DONT WANT ANYTHING TO HAPPEN TO ANYONE TO GOD BE THE GLORY STILL!!! AMEN

It was a travesty that happened to all of the women involved. You asked “Where was God for the other four women?” I can’t presume to answer for God but I speculate, knowing Him to be such a gentlemen that stands at the door of our hearts & knocks yet waits to be asked to come in, was possibly waiting on someone to call His name & invite Him to intervene on their behave; as the individual lady was spiritually cognizant enough to do. Thank you Lord that you hear us when we pray! Prayers going up for all!

To Calvin, did the other four women know to call on God? Not saying he was right in raping them but those of us who know Jesus intimately know to call on Him. Just saying you are Christian does not mean you know Him. So don’t diminish the fact that the fifth woman called on Him for protection. She obviously has a connection with God.

Calvin, it is far too late in the game to start blaming God for the actions of this man or for the numerous other tragedies in the world. Every bad thing that happens to people are usually the result of either other people’s decisions or their own choices. Sometimes the Lord wills it for us to have a rough patch to test our faith or for us to learn something important. The Lord was in the same place he always is: everywhere. The other four women were tragically raped but thank God that was all. Worse could have happened to them and worse always does in this country alone.

  13. Patricia

@Calvin Sims Sr. It is truly sad that the other women got rapped. But thank God the one didn’t. I pray that the other women seek God’s divine healing in this. God is still on the throne. We can ask why….but will never know the answer. Just know this…what the enemy has meant for bad… God can turn it around and work it for the good. I know that God is wise and he makes no mistakes. God has gotten the glory out of this. And he wants us to know that he is still in charge. He has the power to turn the heart of a man.

  14. Jay

Calvin you are dead on. The truth of the matter is that God sees it all good and evil. It’s sad what happen to the others that happen to be raped. Who knows what they happen to be saying when he was about to rape them and raping them as far as there communication. But for this young lady when she asked him does he believe in God something happen in his mind that could of brought back a conscious of feeling wrong for what he did and what he was getting ready to do. God gave us dominion over the earth!! The article is sad that those four women happen to be raped I don’t think anyone would disagree. But it could of been 5 women instead of 4

I’m reading everyone’s responses and comments and my heart is soaring right now! There are true men and women of God out there still!!!

    Praise God!

May God Bless my brothers and sisters in Christ! I am elated right now to know that there are true believers out there who are on fire for God. May we all endure unto the end….
