Herod had the power of a god. He was supreme ruler. Herodians believed they were serving God by serving him. (Acts 12:22)Herodians were subject to the good ole boy system. Blood lines, successions, nepotism, etc. kept Herods in power. (Matt. 2:22) To get favor of the supreme ruler, you had to bribe or satisfy them in service or deed. (Mark 6:25) Herod mixed the pagan government with the church and controlled both. (Matt. 2:16) Herod desired to kill Jesus because his teachings were influencing his Herodians. (Mark 3:6) Herod was influential in politics and religion. And from Jesus birth til death, he sought to kill Jesus and stop his ministry. POLITICS WILL ALWAYS TRY TO STOP CHRIST’S TEACHINGS because Christ taught humility, but politics require self promotion and exaltation.
A little leaven, effects the entire loaf and changes it’s appearance, texture, and consistency. This is what politics from the pulpit always does. It CHANGES PREACHERS, CHURCHES, AND MEMBERS. (Gal. 5:9)
Pray for our nation. Many of the preachers that should be proclaiming the Words of God are tampering with their congregates voting choices. Many “used to be” preachers are trading in their bible’s to run for political offices. Some that once stood on spiritual truths are turning their back on God to become activists and protestors of social issues. So many that once believed are believing in racial heresies and erroneous doctrines. And now, many that once believed that the man was the head of the woman, as Christ is the head of the church are excited about having a “women” lead our nation’s men and families. Either way, whether Trump or Clinton, is still a godless choice. Pray people! – G. Craige Lewis
(Luke 13:31) The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee. And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.
