TLC Cancels ’19 Kids and Counting’ While Adding Transgender Reality Show to Lineup

By Heather Clark | chrisitiannews.net

DuggarsLITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Learning Channel (TLC) announced today that it will no longer air the popular reality television show “19 Kids and Counting,” while recently announcing the addition of its transgender series “I Am Jazz.”

“After thoughtful consideration, TLC and the Duggar family have decided to not move forward with ’19 Kids and Counting,’” it said in a statement. “The show will no longer appear on the air.”

The decision comes after the revelation that eldest Duggar son, Josh, now 26, inappropriately touched several girls—four of his sisters and a babysitter—at the age of 14 and was required by his parents to obtain help. Duggar, who confessed to his parents about his actions at that time, later repented of his sins and became a born-again Christian.

While Duggar says that he turned away from that sin years ago, a police chief who was soon to retire decided to release the 2006 documents surrounding the matter to the media this past May, which then sparked a firestorm of controversy nationwide in learning of his past. Duggar resigned from his position in ministry at the Washington-based Family Policy Council, stating that he did not wish to be a distraction from its work, and moved back to Arkansas with his wife and children.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar also appeared on national television to explain how they dealt with their then-teenage son, as did Duggar’s sisters Jessa and Jill, who stated that while their brother’s “curious” touching was inappropriate, they were upset that the police chief and the media dug up the past and violated their personal privacy.

“If you’ve had failures in your past, it doesn’t mean you can’t be changed,” Jessa Duggar told Fox’s Megyn Kelly. “I think the real issue is people are making this sound like it happened yesterday.”

Jessa’s courtship, engagement and marriage to her husband Ben had been among the last episodes featured on “19 Kids and Counting.” Both Jill and Jessa had communicated on their show the importance of purity and both saved their first kiss for their wedding day. Josh Duggar and his wife Anna had done the same in 2009, which was likewise televised.

The Duggars reiterated in a statement on Thursday that the situation with their son is a matter of the past, but that they hope it can be used to help other families whose children are heading down a path of sin.

“With God’s grace and help, Josh, our daughters and our entire family overcame a terrible situation, found healing and a way forward. We are so pleased with the wonderful adults they have all become,” they wrote. “It is our prayer that the painful situation our family went through many years ago can point people toward faith in God and help others who also have lived through similar dark situations to find help, hope and healing, as well.”

While the Duggars have been removed from the TLC lineup, the network has recently added the transgender reality show “I Am Jazz,” featuring 14-year-old teen Jazz Jennings, a male who identifies as female. The 11-episode series features the teen’s life as living as the opposite sex.

“Parents Jeanette and Greg have spent the years finding doctors to treat their daughter, while fighting the discrimination and misconceptions associated with what it means to be transgender,” TLC describes the show on its site.

“Not only does Jazz face the normal struggles of a 14 year-old girl; boy crazy friends, mood swings, and body image issues, she must also contend with the unique challenges of being a transgender girl,” it continues. “Jazz is on a regimen of hormone therapy so that she can look and develop like the other girls in her school. But, Jazz struggles with comparing herself, and the lagging pace of her breast development to her friends.”

TLC also airs the reality show “Sister Wives,” which features a polygamist Kody Brown and his five “wives,” as well as “Long Island Medium,” which follows the psychic work of Theresa Caputo, who claims to communicate with the dead.

While surfing the channels, I came upon the beginning of the show. I was under the impression that this child may have been a hermaphrodite. I didn’t see the entire episode, so I am ignorant as to all the details, but concerned as to why the parents would allow their child, at that age, to determine their gender, as if God made mistake.

It’s sad in this day that repentance is not excepted but life styles are. The same people who say that the church always judging the lgbt, they are the same to past judgment on this young man. The devil does want you to know that Jesus can forgive your sins, that’s why he fools people into believing a lie. This country is on its way down, and the lgbt, and these political leaders are driving the bus. Nothing wrong in the world anymore. The church is out dated let them tell it. We are not to call wrong right and right wrong. He’s coming back one day (Jesus ).Who will Be Ready. Peace.

that is an excellent point, that repentance is not accepted but lifestyles are..this is a dag gone shame. This is also to defame homeschoolers bc I homeschool now, and a co-worker where I work, mentioned this to a client in front of me, just making indirect comments about them being homeschoolers and meeting them from the real world. complaining how ask the girls must be accompanied by an escort when they are courting. (now mind you, i had no clue that they were taken off the air, i never watched the show , i only knew they existed.) well she thought that was ridiculous to have an escort, and i said aloud, i don’t think that’s a bad idea to make them go with an escort, to me that Keeps them out of trouble. and she bc nothing to say about that. ?

I love 19 kids and counting. I think its unfair to take them off and put that stupid transgender show on its bad that TLC is making a big deal over what josh did yes it was wrong but its not ur place to say hey u did this so im replacing a great cristian show for a transgender that is pretty horrible God made them men for a reason. If u dont want to 7 fans of TLC i think u should put 19 kids and counting back these days u can barely find a good show that is good for all ages but now ur teaching them that transgender is ok when its not….. im not judging the people who did that its there choice but this world is making cristian seem like the bad guys and its not fair when yall r supporting this like gay marriage and transgender those r both wrong and if yall would pick up a bible u would see that God made adam and eve not adam and steve so plz let 19 kids and counting come back on i loved that show

It would be great if they would cancel every one of them. Idk how any could be godly, even the alleged Christian ones. When the first ones like fear factor came out, we were in trouble then! Everything was about competing, and humiliating ones self to gain anything, when the bible states if we dont work we dont eat. And God told us if we just obeyed he would bless us, and what to do to
Be blessed all through bible, so I never understood how anyone could eat a worm, win money for it and then thank God. Then later on it was about worshiping men, like hells kitchen, the apprentice, to impress people to have, then move on to American idol, still worshipping people , ie. Simon and Paula, just to win to be worshipped by America and the world and then again, thank God! Really? I thoughts he destroyed idols, then it moved up
To children disrespecting parents, narcissism, everything God said was going to happen in last days in 2 Timothy 3 right before our eyes on TV ( Mary Mary, deitrick, the once secluded Amish people, midgets, sick people, bald people, go fund me, it’s all look at me , and fake book, and Instagram ! ( had to throw that in there!) So…..now we have a problem, just like the lesbian and sissy law for all fifty states, because nobody Said nothing, except G Craige Lewis, lol! Now we all wanna pray and petition, when it should have been done when we saw the first rainbow flag. Im done!

I am extremely upset and saddened to learn of this decision to remove the Dougars program to be replaced with these other transgender type programs. It is a sad day in these United States when we glorify the woes of those whose eyes are blinded to the truth of God’s word and feel that they need to advertise these types of issues for all, especially our impressionable children, to see. I realize they are not interested in what I have to say as a believer in the Word of God, but for the record, God is the only one who can help them. No form of expression or venting or psychiatry can heal these persons. Only God can do that.

The Dougars dealt with their family problems and the son has repented and gave his life to Jesus after it was dealt with. Shouldn’t this reaction be the example for the world? The innocent young sisters now have to live with this shame because someone decided to expose an issue that was dealt with and solved years ago. The son asked for and received forgiveness and has gone on to live a Godly life.

I pray for those who are caught up in these sins that their eyes would be opened to the Truth of God’s word concerning this matter but I do not think that this is proper programming on television and particularly not on a family channel such as TLC. I personally will discontinue viewing this channel and it’s a shame because they did provide valuable learning programming in the past.

If those who choose to live this life want to live this way, please do it in the privacy of your own homes but not splash it on television for other children to view. It is wrong to force everyone else to view and agree with your lifestyle choices. I wouldn’t do that to you.

I’m not surprised at all that a family with strong beliefs in God would be taken off prime time tv & replaced with a horror story of a boy pretending to be a girl. Because media is the biggest promoter of satanic agenda, I’m sure TLC knew about the Duggar incident all along. Such a set up. No way I’d watch the atrocity of a confused child try to live a life that will NEVER be. Ultimately it’s time to decide whether we’re going to be hot or cold because God won’t accept lukewarm.

It is my opinion that if the Duggars are truly christians then they should not have never been on TLC. Reality shows are not for christians.
